Classroom rules and procedures
Mrs. Becky Darby - HHS Room E312
2023-24
Classroom Rules:
- Be prepared for class.
- Be in your seat, ready to work when the tardy bell rings.
- Communication (verbal or nonverbal) will be respectful at all times.
- Make the daily assignment your #1 priority.
- Unless instructed otherwise, phones, earbuds, and ipads/laptops should be out of sight (not on your desk).
Procedures:
Materials
Each day you will need your ipad/laptop, binder/folder, paper, and a pencil. It is to your benefit to have an ORGANIZED folder or binder designated for this course. You will receive several handouts/links for each unit of study that will serve as quiz/test review material. Google Classroom will be the main method of delivery for a instruction.
Entering the Classroom
Please enter the classroom quietly, sharpen pencils, gather all necessary materials (calculator, paper, etc.), and be seated in your assigned seat before the tardy bell rings. The unit of study, objective, and assignment will be written on the board each day. You will be expected to complete bell work immediately after the tardy bell rings. THIS WILL CONSIST OF MATERIAL YOU HAVE ALREADY LEARNED IN CLASS. You will have an opportunity to ask questions pertaining to homework after attendance is recorded and bell work is complete.
Homework/Classwork
Please copy the problem (when necessary) and show all work in completing each problem. Credit will not be given for answers without justification in many cases. Any assignment given and not completed during the allotted class time will be homework. These assignments will be randomly collected and checked; however, you will ALWAYS have the opportunity to check your work the following class period.
Grading
Your grade will be calculated according to TOTAL POINTS EARNED/TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE. Points will be accumulated from class activities, homework, web-based curriculum (i.e. iReady, Pearson Realize/Math XL, IXL), and quizzes/exams. From time to time, I may give unannounced assessments to encourage students to review notes and complete homework on a timely basis.
Absences
If you are absent from class for any reason, please
● check Google Classroom first for videos, notes and assignments
It is your responsibility to get the assignment(s) completed and checked in for credit
● be sure make-up work is completed according to the handbook policy
● make arrangements to get assignments early if you know you will be absent by emailing me
Restroom/Hall Passes
Each student will have one free restroom pass available to him/her each quarter. He/She must sign out and obtain the hall pass before leaving the room. After the free pass has been used, students will be counted tardy for missing instruction.
Dismissal
Please place your school provided calculator in the correct location before exiting the classroom.
Extra Help Available
If you need additional help for any reason, please feel free to make arrangements to meet with me after school. I will usually be available Monday–Thursday.
